After the end of this season's Cymru Taith, team manager Toni decided it's time for the team to review its position in the OCM world:
"It has been 90 days since we last saw the big gold. If we keep on like this soon we'll be in Division 3 again. Changes must be done, and you will see them in the next days."
"For now I don't want to talk in public about these changes. However, I can say that there will certainly be changes in the team roster, and a new leader will arrive. Yes, others will leave, but I won't give names for now. I just want to say that Wajeeh will stay as the team leader alongside this new rider we are yet to hire."
There have been rumours that one of the riders who might join I Titani is South African TTer Morgan Arendse, while others indicate that an Italian rider is on Toni's shortlist, alongisde a Polish one.
"If you're that interested, I can say that we are monitoring 7 riders at the moment and they are very different from each other. We've contacted some managers and we are looking at our options."
However, it seems clear that Malaysian rider Sin Kiat Safiq Rahim is one of the riders who will leave the team, joining Asymm Project, a local team.
"Safiq Rahim has been an excellent teammate, but we feel that he has the potential to lead a team. Plus, Asymm Project is an ambitious team who will certainly reach the Zyte Division in no time. Safiq Rahim and Asymm Project will lead Malaysia to cycling glory."
Though negotiations are still in progress, the deal is supposed to be set on day 45.
The upcoming days will definitely be decisive for the team's future and will define whether we'll continue to see I Biancazzurri based on Wajeeh's talent or if the Syrian will have to share the spotlight with another cyclist.
